Does it really help??

So, I just got done ironing my sweats. You know, so they will look "nice".  I was just wondering... is that kind of like putting lipstick on a pig--no matter what I do they are STILL sweats!!!   (and don't judge me-it's raining outside, and I plan on cleaning my house so YES I am wearing sweats today---ALL DAY!!! and I may or may not be going to the store and anywhere else I need to go-in my sweats)

i AM doing this!!!

I know there are going to be some non-believers, but I am ready to start blogging again!!  Only this time it's going to be a little different.  I have struggled with the "normal" blog where people put only the good stuff, I mean the REALLY REALLY  good stuff, the "too good to be true" stuff, the stuff that leaves us all feeling like crap.-Please tell me I am not the only one who feels like that when reading some others blog!  It's no wonder we feel like failures as mothers and wives, when we are constantly bombarded with everyone's "Highlight Reel".  Real life is not what you see on Facebook, blogs and especially not Pinterest!!  I have had many different conversations with different friends and family and it's amazing how many women feel like they just can't keep up.  I want to make my blog as real as I can get it, yes it will still be used as a type of journaling for my family, but I don't think I need to sugar coat everything or make it seem all roses and sunshine in order for my kids to feel like they had a good childhood.  In fact sometimes it would be nice to see that my mom struggled with some of the same things that I struggle with.  So, my blog is going to be the good, the bad and the ugly.  If you are looking for a perfect world to take a peek at - you are at the wrong blog!  I also hope to be able to find humor in as many situations as possible, so it may even be a little entertaining too.  I do tend to be a sarcastic person, if that offends you, then you should probably stop reading, too.  I only have one blog requirement -- NO JUDGING!!  If I am going to bare my soul, my deepest darkest secrets, then I would appreciate it if you didn't judge me. Just come, read, and comment - then have a great day!  Here we go...

Asperino is 7!!!

In June we celebrated Aspen's 7th birthday!  She wanted a craft party, so we made a trip to Michaels and set out invites! She had a lot of friends come over and I am pretty sure they all had a great time!!
The birthday cake--Aunt Kristin helped the kids decorate it!

The kids all painted their own goody bags--messy!

I can't get this pic to turn-ugg- but this Aspen painting her bag.

Then we all made dog tags, they all had their name on them and they decorated them with stickers and beads.

We played a little birthday bingo--I think we lost the boys during this part-they just couldn't sit still anymore!!

Of course the best part---PRESENTS!!!

Make a wish!!!
I can't believe Aspen is already 7.  She is growing up way too fast. She loves painting, coloring and doing any kind of crafts.  She is a great reader, and loves chapter books.  She can't wait to start 2nd grade, and is excited to show Brylee the ropes of elementary school!  Her favorite thing these days is to turn on her music (she has about 10 different Disney CD's)  and she will act out the songs for us--she calls them her plays.  She loves singing and is actually very good at it.  I think she may be our drama girl (the musical-play kind of drama, all though she is good at the Drama Queen kind also) It's so fun to see the areas that are going to be her strengths coming out in her.   We love our Asperino!!!

I was just wondering...

Does washing down your vitamins with Dr. Pepper, take away any and all nutritional value they had? ....Just wonderin'

Technical Difficulties!!

So, my blog and I are not quite seeing eye to eye these days!  I have updated and changed fonts-backgrounds and other fun stuff on my blog-it looked so good---And then..... it all dissappeared and turned into the HUGE thing that it is now!!   I didn't want you to worry that there was something wrong with my vision and I purposely chose to make my text and pictures about five times too big, I can see just fine.  I will try to fix it again soon, but right now I am too frustrated with it (and a whole bunch of other stuff too, but that is a story for another time!)  So, for now I hope you enjoy having my children's faces take up your WHOLE computer screen!!!

What does the full moon look like in the summertime?

THIS!!
Yes, I am a crappy mom!  Porter was playing in the water in the backyard and I noticed his swim suit was falling down and you could see his crack.  Instead of fixing it, Kristin and I had a good laugh then went on with our day.  Later that night Porter said "My bum hurts"  and this is what we found!!  It was a pretty bad sunburn, it later blistered a little and peeled.  So one day when he gets skin cancer on his bum--I will be the one to blame!!!

Ok Now I have your attention....

Yes, I am know it has been just under a million years since my last post, but I am still going to try and get y'all updated--and I have a feeling once you see everything we have been up to you might just forgive us!!

Hold on tight here we go!!! (And I give up at trying to get these all in the correct chronicological order so, deal with it!)

We had friends over to our house for a Easter egg hunt and BBQ.  Brian and I had almost 300 eggs to hide-good thing we have a big yard!

Just some of the kids "patiently" waiting!

Let us out!

Brian got a little creative with his hiding places and some of the older girls had to help each other get the eggs out of our irrigation pipes!

We hid a few "special"eggs with money in them.  So, the kids were begging Brian to give them hints about where he hid them!

Porter's Dino eggs--he took all of his eggs and slept with them in his room that night!

The Easter Bunny made it to our house once again!!

In May we made our yearly trip to the Knolls for fourwheeling, camping, cave exploring, geocaching, birdwatching, airplane flying/crashing, BIG hole digging and so much more FUN!!
Our caravan!

The BIG hole--kept the kids entertained for hours!!

Brian and Porter hiking up to the cave!
Pre flight picture!
Post crash picture!

My kids wore themselves out, and fell asleep on Grandma and Grandpa's laps most nights!

 Until next year!!!

May Madness!!

Brylee graduated preschool! On to Kindergarten!
Aspen finished 1st grade as a star reader!!  She loves reading--I can't keep up with her reading habits, we are constantly having to get her new books--Thank goodness for the library and friends who lets us borrow books!

We had our annual Davis Family Campout and guess what???? It rained!!!  Surprise-Surprise!!! (it rains EVERY year, and this year we left early and it actually snowed the next day!)  But, we still had fun, as always!!

Don't be fooled this is not normal!!!
As part of the campout activities, they have a dance (ok, so having a dance with 500 of your cousins sounds a little questionable, but that's how the Davis' roll)   The kids love it, and they go crazy!

My kids love hanging out with their cousins!

This year we sold our trailer--the week or so before the campout, and didn't buy a new one for a couple of weeks later.  SO, we tented it this year.  The kids actually thought it was fun--I missed my trailer!

Sleep-under

There are two reasons I am posting these pic's. First, Brylee insists on sleeping with about 6 princess stuffed dolls, and 5 pillows, two of them pillow pets. She can barley fit on her bed! Doesn't look comfortable to me, but with Brylee it usually does not matter what I think!! Then again, maybe sleeping with princesses keeps you young and beautiful--it works for her! One night I went to check on the kids and make sure they were all tucked in and asleep. Porter, his blanket and pillow were missing from his bed. I went in the girls room and this is what I found! And he slept there all night long! Again, doesn't look comfortable to me, but maybe it is because I am getting old! Silly kids, they keep us laughing all the time!!!
