Our house guest's

About a month ago while we were out of town a robin decided the vent off of our fireplace looked like a great place for her nest. She picked a pretty good place, because it is warm all of the time. She was probably wishing she chose somewhere else, because everytime we went out on the back porch she would fly away and sit in the bushes and watch us. I climbed up there and saw about 4 beautiful blue eggs. We lifted the girls up there to see them also. So, we watched for a couple of weeks while she sat vigil over her eggs. This week I noticed she hasn't been sitting on the nest as often. So, I climbed up and sure enough there were 3 ugly baby birds and 1 egg in the nest. I have showed the girls and they think it is so fun we have baby birds! The other night Aspen said "Mom I want to feed the baby birds." So, I asked her if she knew how the mommy bird feeds her babies. She said "No". So, I told her the mommy bird finds worms and chews them up and spits them in the babies mouth! Needless to say she doesn't want to feed the birds anymore!!

Young Women Graduation gifts!

In May 4 of my Laurels graduated high school and sadly Young womens :( For their graduation gift my secretary made these amazing recipe boxes for the girls. I gathered recipes from other ladies in the presidency and made some really cute recipe cards with my digital scrapbooking program. I was very happy with the way it all turned out!! I am so sad to be loosing these girls they have been so fun getting to know them--I was hoping I could find a way to "hold them back", but no luck they have all moved on to the singles ward!! I have a feeling they won't be single for too long!!!

Our new toy!

So we splurged and bought the kids this great waterslide for the summer. We werew trying to decide what to do for Aspen's birthday and after looking into some places I could take the kids-a movie, a place that has BIG bouncers and slide- we decided that we could put the money we would spend taking the kids somewhere, and buy one of these and have it to use all the time!

We looked into alot of different types and decided on this one because it has a little slide in this tunnel so Porter can use it, and it also has a bigger pool area than the other ones did so we can get the best of both worlds-pool and slides!

The kids all love it!! The first day we put it up it was still kind of cool, but the kids did not care they would not come out, I had to drag them out when it started raining! Porter loved it too! Now I am just hoping that this weather will shape up and stop raining everyday so we can use it more!! Any one who wants to come visit is welcome (as always!) but if you come we will pull the slide out and the kids can play! Yes that is a little bribery!!

This is what I do while the kids play!!!!! Better than a babysitter!!!!

Aspen's 5th Birthday Party!!

Aspen turned 5!! (I am not very happy about this, but I will save that for a later post) For her party we decided to use our waterslide and have a swimming/water party! The kids played ine the water, ate cake and ice cream and had a great time!! And I just had to sit and watch!!!!Once again I had Aspen's cake made by a lady who works with Brian and once again she did a GREAT job!!! Aspen wanted a sleeping beauty cake with Aurora in a pink dress! Yummy cake and ice cream!!!

Make a wish!!!

WOO HOO Barbies!!!

Aspen was so excited about all of her presents! thanks to everyone who came!!!

Memorial day weekend

I know this is very overdue, but I wanted to put a million different pictures here and I knew it would take me some time, but here we go! (I would totally understand if everyone just skipped over all of this, because it is alot of pic's!) Memorial day weekend is when we ALWAYS have the Davis family campout! It's a great chance to get together with all of the family-all 500 or so of them! They have a fun carnival for the kids on saturday! We we are in charge of face painting and had fun doing that, maybe we even got a little carried away! The guys all go golfing just down the street at the hobble creek golf course, Brian was very sad to have to sit out this year because of his broken elbow. He did go Saturday, just to ride along in the cart!

You could say Hugh gets walked all over!I brought watercolor paints and the kids enjoyed painting rocks and trees!
We made macaroni necklaces!

It got pretty cold and OF COURSE we had rain, so once again we left early!

We made s'mores and in order to keep Porter out of the fire we sat his chair way back and gave him a short little stick and marshmellow-and it worked great! he doesn't care if it is cooked he just likes marshmellows!

This is getting ridiculous!!!

Brian's arm is finally getting better, about a week and a half ago he had some more x-rays done and the bone had moved more. But, after consulting with the doctor they think he is still fine without surgery. He has just been given strict instructions not to push, pull or lift with that arm. And overall he is pretty good about not using it, but he still does more with it than I think he should. After doing a lot of yardwork Saturday it was pretty sore and his range of motion was limited, but after taking it easy on Sunday and a couple hot showers it seems to have loosened up some.

And to top it off i stubbed my little toe on the corner of the door the other day and hurt it pretty good. It swelled up and turned pretty colors. I was so mad, I have been running to get ready for some upcoming races I would like to run in, and even just bought some new running shoes! I couldn't even stand to put the shoes on it hurt so bad-I even had Brian take some x-rays and it was not broken, but it still was pretty sore. I went running Monday night and it was tolerable, but as soon as I was done running it was throbbing pretty good! We are falling apart-it sucks to get old!!

Don't worry, Kristin and Melinda, I am still going to kick your bums on the 4th of July!!!!

Did any of that make it into your mouth??

Porter is not exactly the cleanest eater and apparently fruity pebbles are harder to eat than other cereal, because this is how Porter looked after eating breakfast!

No reason to move back to Salt Lake now!!!

IT'S HERE!!!!!!
Brian was so excited he was going to camp out in the parking lot the night before so we could be first in line, but I talked him out of it! Not really, but he was really excited we went opening day and it was wonderful!!!! Now if we can only get some of those awesome movie theaters they have in Salt Lake we will be set!! We will have no reason to move back to SL ----except for you of course mom!!!! :)

Asparagus!!

One of our favorite things about living here in the spring is picking Asparagus! It grows wild everywhere, all along back roads and ditches. We take the kids and everyone gets out and walks along the road. They have fun being outside and exploring everything. Asparagus grows like 4-5 inches a day so we go back every couple of days and pick. Then what we don't eat I blanch and freeze for later! Yummy!
